Nick's Bar & Grill - Amboy
About This Spot
Nick's Bar & Grill sits quietly at the edge of Amboy, a small logging town where time moves to its own steady rhythm. Walking inside, you’re met with a warm, unpretentious atmosphere—wood-lined walls echoing decades of stories, the hum of familiar faces catching up over cold drinks, and a comfortable pace that invites you to settle in, whether for a quick bite or a long afternoon on the back deck.
The place carries the honest charm of a well-loved local haunt. It hums with community — families, longtime neighbors, and those drawn by its reputation for hearty, straightforward food. The mood is approachable, punctuated by genuine smiles and nods of recognition, as if you’ve just become part of an ongoing conversation in this cozy corner of the Pacific Northwest.
Eating here isn’t just about the menu, though it reflects the area’s rugged spirit. Comforting plates arrive with a kind of no-fuss satisfaction: think perfectly cooked seafood fresh from nearby waters, crispy fries plated with care, and generous portions that keep both appetite and wallet in mind. There’s a sense that meals are crafted to be shared, enjoyed slowly with those around you as the afternoon sun warms the wooden deck outside.
What sets Nick's apart is the thoughtful balance between its roots and quiet openness—the way the staff nurtures personal connections, making room for celebrations and regular visits alike. It's a spot where you can feel the history in the walls and the kindness in the smiles, a comforting find whether you’re passing through or returning for the fifth time.

Fantastic small town bar. Amboy is a logging town so expect gruff men, families, logger decor and clear evidence this place has been in the community for quite some time. Food is quite good, I've never had bad service (In fact I was recognized my second time in) and the back deck is an absolute treat in the summer. Prepare yourself for high prices and some looks if you're queer. There's some nice pool tables if that's your deal.

They accommodated with letting us have a celebration of life for my dad who loved riding out to thier establishment on his motorcycle with his friends. They set it up with little extras and made us feel very welcome and checked on us regularly and let us stay as long as we wanted. Great and friendly staff and comfortable relaxing atmosphere. Thanks for everything Nicks Bar and Grill! You made our dad proud and our day together special! Highly recommend!

My girlfriend and I were a little bit apprehensive about coming here, we weren't sure that the locals or the clientele would appreciate our vibes. We were greeted by friendly service and we really liked the food! The French fries were perfection, and the coleslaw was nice and fresh. The drinks were really tasty, especially the green tea shots. Wished they were poured a bit stronger though. We'll definitely be coming back again!

I love this place, I live 60 miles from there and I ride my bike there over the mountain almost every weekend. Its definitely worth the ride.

Nicks is a great place for a quick bite in Amboy, WA. The deep fried Halibut was perfectly cooked. The Onion Rings were delectable Halos. Cool drinks and good friends. C'MON DOWN Y'ALL!

Very cool 110% local Oregon timber country bar and grill. After 9.00 when the band cranks up the whole place is a party! If there is a winter storm and your power goes out come here! They have a big generator and you will be warm and fed and definitely not thirsty!

Classic pub and restaurant. Menu is basic but good and the burgers taste fresh. Place is pretty big and has room for the restaurant under one long area. The place has a relaxed vibe and also have events. Access is easy and they seem to cater to everyone. I'll certainly go again and wouldn't hesitate to stop and eat or have a drink.

Had a burger and tots. It was really good. They go a little bit crazy with the tots portion, but I’m not complaining…
